What is Eldritch Blast Spell?
The spell’s text from the Player’s Handbook reads: “A beam of crackling energy streaks toward a creature within range. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d10 force damage.“
The spell creates more than one beam when you reach higher levels: two at 5th level, three at 11th level, and four at 17th level. You can direct the beams at the same target or at different ones. Make a separate attack roll for each beam.

How Does Eldritch Blast Work?
On its own, Eldritch Blast is an excellent spell for several reasons, which we explore in the next section. However, it is unique in that a few Eldritch Invocations specifically modify Eldritch Blast to make it even more appealing. Agonizing Blast lets you add your Charisma modifier to the damage for each beam. At higher levels, that means adding +20 to your four beams.
Eldritch Spear increases the range of Eldritch Blast from 120 feet to 300 feet. Repelling Blast lets you use your Eldritch Blast to move a target up to 10 feet away from you in whatever direction you choose.
Is Eldritch Blast a Good Spell?
Eldritch Blast is such a fantastic spell that many players take the Spell Sniper feat just to access it. It is the bread and butter of the Warlock class. Eldritch Blast is a wonderful cantrip because you gain beams according to your character level, meaning multiclass characters can fire off four beams at level 17, even if only one of those levels was in Warlock.
Additionally, since you roll for each beam, it is possible to still hit with some of the rays even if you initially miss. If you’re very lucky, you could crit with one or more beams since they are all individual rolls.
Which Classes Can Use Eldritch Blast?
Eldritch Blast is unique to Warlocks, although there are other ways a character can access it. The Spell Sniper feat allows you to choose a cantrip that makes an attack roll. High Elves also have a racial feature that will enable you to select a cantrip that makes an attack roll.
