Best Quiz Board & Card Games
Wits & Wagers

Playing time: 20min
Ages: 10+
Complexity: 1.21/5
History’s most award-winning party game!
With over a million sold, Wits & Wagers has become a modern classic. Crazy questions like, “Do you know the average number of pizza slices eaten by Americans each day?” are asked.
Don’t know the answer? No problem, that’s all part of the fun.
Wits & Wagers is all about guessing and betting, and with a felt betting mat, you’ll feel like a Vegas high-roller. It’s a great trivia party game that’ll get everyone into trivia.
What we liked
Even people who don’t usually like trivia board games end up loving Wits & Wagers. The games move quickly and everyone is engaged the whole way through.
What could be better
There are really only enough questions in the base game for around 30 games, which go pretty quickly since everyone always wants to play another round!
Wits & Wagers is really a bluffing game so put on your poker face and look sharp. Feeling confident? You can even bet on yourself!
Conspiracy Theory
Players: 2-6
Playing time: 20-45min
Ages: 14+
Complexity: 1.00/5
The game that reveals the truth…
Do you find online conspiracy theories fascinating? What about the plausible theory that JFK’s ghost revealed that all dolphins are aliens? Well then, Conspiracy Theory is the game for you! This trivia game tests your knowledge of the world of internet conspiracies.
In this card game, players take turns being the judge and reading out the conspiracy. Other players choose their best, silliest, or wildest card to fit the theory. You can choose the most believable card for the theory if being right is your thing, as it is mine. Convince the judge your card is true and win the round!
What we liked
A QR code is printed on each card for information on the theory. This is a great addition as many may need to know more about Queen Elizabeth’s shape-shifting extraterrestrial reptilian humanoid habits.
This kooky game is a blast to play, easy to learn, and players will definitely learn some very weird trivia!
What could be better
Some of the questions could be worded more clearly and many times the questions are so out-there that you just end up guessing. It could make a fantastic drinking game!
Linkee
Players: 2-30
Playing time: 30min
Ages: 14+
Complexity: 1.13/5
Four little questions. One big link.
Got a large group? Linkee is your go-to trivia game.
Linkee is a super simple, shout-out-loud style game that’s fun and fast with a little bit of a twist.
How it differs from other quiz games, you don’t win by getting the answer right, you win by guessing the link between the answers!
For example, if the answers were Snoop Dog, Jay, M&M’s, and 50cent, the link would be? That’s right ‘Rappers’! (always remember to shout out your answers).
What we liked
Linkee is a fun party game that gets you thinking. It comes with plenty of cards and writing pads too, making it a very solid purchase.
What could be better
If pop culture is your Achilles’ Heel (like me), you’ll likely not enjoy this game as much as others might.
With over 1400 questions, Linkee is a great trivia game for groups of all sizes!

Know It or Blow It
Players: 4
Playing time: 45mins
Ages: 10+
Complexity: 2.50/5
You either know it or you blow it! Know It or Blow It is a team vs. team challenge of wits.
When you flip a card, give as many answers as you can. Every time you answer correctly, you get a point! Then get ready for a risk. If you’re the next player in the team to answer and you blew it, the whole team doesn’t get any points for that turn!
What we liked
This team-based game gets players to work as a team to defeat their opponents and become the winners, or get angry and turn on each other. Even if you’re not a trivia whiz, getting the chance to discuss questions with your team is a great option.
What could be better
The Cold Sweat cards are very challenging! Also, losing the game as a group could lead to some table fighting.
Test your knowledge, as well as your friendships with Know It or Blow It!

If you’re expecting a game about serial killer trivia, think again. This game has questions about all types of deaths, including tragic accidents.
STEM Family Battle
Players: 2–4
Playing time: 30-60min
Ages: 15+
Complexity: 2.05/5
Team up and push other players to their doom with STEM Family Battle.
Family game night will never be the same. Prepare to be stumped by some seriously challenging STEM trivia. Science, technology, engineering, and math (i.e. STEM) topics are the basis of the questions for both kids and adults. With references to video games and pop culture, there are some sneaky traps to avoid while the kids team up against you.
What we liked
STEM Family Battle is a brilliant family game that children can learn while they play. An excellent teaching tool when used as a science or math game in a classroom too.
What could be better
The questions are challenging, making it a great game for a variety of age groups. I feel that there are too many Minecraft questions, however.
With 2 levels of difficulty, it’s easy enough for kids and challenging enough for adults. Unfold the board and be delighted by stumping grown-ups!
…I Should’ve Known That!
Players: 2-99
Playing Time: 15-45min
Ages: 14+
Complexity: 1.50/5
A trivia game about things you oughta know!
…I Should Have Known That! is a highly addictive entertaining trivia game with over 400 questions about different things you oughta know…
Questions like, ‘Is starboard on the left of the right side of a boat?’ ‘How do you say ‘Japan’ in Japanese?’ or ‘Is a penguin a bird?’.
In contrast to traditional trivia formats, in…I Should Have Known That! players don’t receive points for answering questions correctly. Instead, points are subtracted for every incorrect answer. This game is a big wake-up call to how little we know without Google at our fingertips!
What we liked
The question cards are weighted very well, with 4 questions per card and at least 1 question that everyone will know. Expect LOTS of laughter!
The card game comes in a small box that’s perfect for traveling or a weekend away with friends or family.
What could be better
The rules are a little loose so you may need to house-rules the game a bit. I recommend nominating a team captain to announce the answer.
Find out what you know in this fast-paced and hilarious trivia game.
Wit’s End
Players: 2-6
Playing time: 60min
Ages: 12+
Complexity: 1.85/5
Do you think you know a little about a lot? Well, put your mind to the test with Wit’s End.
Wit’s End is a challenging and entertaining trivia game that’ll test your knowledge as well as your problem-solving skills!
This trivia game is unique as it adds many different mechanisms like teasers, sequences, and wild cards. Each player starts out on the outer ring with the goal being to reach the center before anyone else. But be careful, a wrong answer can demote you to a lower ring.
With loads of riddles and brain teasers about current affairs, history, science, geography, and so on, you’ll be thinking hard while having fun!
What we liked
We loved that this game includes questions about literature, history, and science more than other trivia games. With 4 categories (Analogies, Odd One Out, Put in Sequence, Fill in the Blank), there is definitely something for every type of thinker here.
What could be better
The dice-rolling and game board seem a bit tacked on, but that’s not surprising with a trivia game.
Stay Cool
Players: 3-7
Playing time: 10-30min
Ages: 12+
Complexity: 1.00/5
Stay Cool is easy, you just have to do everything at once!
Answer the first player’s question while answering the second player’s question with dice, as well as keeping an eye on the sand timer to flip it at the right time. A little more challenging, right? Especially for those of us multi-task-challenged folk.
Stay Cool is a unique and intense experience that challenges and encourages multiple replays to improve a player’s score. There are three rounds and with each round, a task is added. By the final round, you have to complete everything with a sand timer hidden from the player!
This trivia game is as fun and crazy as it sounds! Although it may seem overwhelming for some, the questions are fun and not too difficult to answer.
What we liked
This hilarious party game is as fun to watch as it is to play! Best for a group of 5 or more, you’ll be in tears laughing at the other players’ antics.
What could be better
Steer clear of this game if you don’t like multitasking or get easily stressed out. It can become quite overwhelming for some.
Death By Trivia
Players: 2-99
Playing time: 20-60min
Ages: 13+
Complexity: 1.50/5
Death By Trivia, a morbid party game.
Access your knowledge of the dark and morbid as you defeat your friends in this creepy trivia game with a killer twist.
This deathly trivia game lets players test their knowledge of the disturbing, debauched, dark, and diabolical. A macabre card game with sprinklings of humor, compete to be the last player alive. Wrong answers can get you killed. Correct answers keep you alive! But don’t worry if you’re killed, because ‘Resurrection’ cards will keep you in the game.
What we liked
Death by Trivia adds in a player elimination component that speeds up gameplay, all while keeping everyone morbidly entertained! The rules are clearly written with a nice FAQ section for easy answers.
What could be better
Some players may not enjoy the player elimination mechanic, but Death by Trivia has the option to be “resurrected” which allows players to participate, even if they’re dead.
Trivial Pursuit
Players: 2-6
Playing time: 45- 90min
Ages: 12+
Complexity: 1.29/5
Gather your friends and family to play the trivia game that started it all!
Trivial Pursuit is the classic trivia game adored by the masses. Many board game memories have been made showing off your knowledge.
The Classic Trivial Pursuit includes 2,400 questions in lots of different categories like entertainment, arts, science, literature, and so on. Get an answer right and move around the board.
Trivial Pursuit has so many editions that can get everyone excited to play. Popular editions include Disney, Classic Rock, Junior, and a recently updated Classic edition. A little something for everyone.
This classic game of trivia is fun for young and old alike!
What we liked
Trivial Pursuit is a classic for a reason. The cards are challenging, the gameplay engaging, and everyone knows how to play it (or can be easily taught)!
What could be better
Let’s face it, if you don’t have reasonable knowledge of a variety of subjects and fields, you have no chance of winning. This game is not for dummies. The classic edition questions are also quite dated.
Cranium
Players: 4-16
Playing time: 60min
Ages: 13+
Complexity: 1.42/5
A trivia game where everyone shines.
Cranium is an outrageously fun game that gives players a chance to show off their talents.
Players team up to complete activities in four color-coded categories. The categories are creative cat, data head, star performer, and word worm. All the categories have activities that players must choose and successfully complete before time runs out!
Be the first to reach Cranium Central and win!
What we liked
Cranium has a fantastic team-based mechanism as well as loads of different other activities like drawing, spell challenges, impersonation, and so on. It’s a trivia game that will be sure to have everyone showing off their talent and feeling victorious.
What could be better
Cranium has been described as the “Swiss Army Knife” of board games. It does a little of this and a little of that… not all particularly well. But if you have the right group in the mood for shenanigans, this game is super fun for parties!
Timeline Classic / Inventions / Events
Players: 2-8
Playing time: 15min
Ages: 8+
Complexity: 1.15/5
Do you know when Hiroshima was bombed or the computer was invented? Find out with a game of Timeline!
Each card has a different event or invention and on the opposite side of the card is the date of when in history it happened. Players start with a randomly drawn card in the middle of the table; this forms the timeline. Players must place the card before or after it depending on when they think it happened.
What we liked
What’s great about the Timeline games is they are all compatible with each other, meaning you can start with one and build up your game. This trivia game is easy to learn with simple rules, but still very engaging!
What could be better
The questions are a bit American-centric and if you don’t have a good grasp of history, you probably won’t have a great time (although you’ll still learn something).
There are some big surprises for what came first and how old some inventions really are!
Don’t Quote Me
Players: 2-5
Playing time: 60min
Ages: 14+
Complexity: 1.00/5
Appreciate the power that words have to inspire, startle, and amuse with a game of Don’t Quote Me.
‘Happy Birthday, Mr. President…’ and ‘Yippee Ki Yay Muthaf#*ker!’ are incredibly popular quotes, but do you know who said them?
The game is easy to play as players compete to see who can guess the most quotes. Don’t know the quotes… Ask for a clue! Still don’t know? Multiple choice will surely help you!
What we liked
Don’t Quote Me is a fun and challenging memory-based trivia game. With loads of different categories like pop culture, leaders, movies, sports, and literature there are quotes from all around the world.
If you don’t immediately know the answer, the clues really help. I definitely think it feels better balanced than Trivial Pursuit.
What could be better
This game needs the right audience. If you don’t like trivia games in general, I would steer clear. Also, the Quotes questions are on the difficult side. If you’ve never heard the quote, you’re going to be stumped.
Smart Ass
Players: 2-8
Playing time: 30min
Ages: 12+
Complexity: 1.31/5
Smart Ass, the game where it’s okay to yell! Think fast, talk first to win!
Who’s the smart-ass among your friends and family? Find out with this hilariously fast-paced party game.
Playing Smart Ass is super simple so try to keep up here… just kidding, but it has fairly simple rules. Each player is trying to get their donkey to the end by correctly guessing the most cards!
With who, what, and where questions, Smart Ass will have players bursting to scream out the answer, even when it’s not their turn.
What we liked
This fun, think-on-your-feet trivia game is great to play in a big group, especially with non-gamers. It’s so easy to learn and the questions are all challenging but doable.
What could be better
The board and dice elements of the game take away from the trivia knowledge aspects. Sometimes, the dice-rolling portion can actually sway the game considerably, making it more random than it should be.
Smart Ass is the ultimate party trivia game that keeps the energy up and everyone engaged!
The Game of Wolf
Players: 4-12
Playing time: 30- 45min
Ages: 14+
Complexity: 1.00/5
Which is stronger, the lone wolf or the pack? Choose your pack wisely.
In this fun strategic game of trivia, best friends quickly become foes. The Game of Wolf is a unique game as it combines collaboration with competition. Players must strategically pick their pack based on players’ knowledge or go Lone Wolf and earn double points!
What we liked
The Game of Wolf is a brilliant trivia game for people who enjoy a bit of strategy with their board games. With questions that are relevant and up-to-date, the game covers large genres so you need to strategize how you go forward.
What could be better
We avoid the cards with pictures on them as they are a struggle. Also, the scoring portion of the game makes very little sense. Might have to make up some house rules for that.
But overall, it’s a howling good time!
iKnow
Players: 2-6
Playing time: 60min
Ages: 15+
Complexity: 1.44/5
A trivia quiz with a twist: get a question or bet on an answer. In the trivia game, iKnow, everyone plays at once.
iKnow is a trivia game that includes a fun betting mechanism. Show what you know and if you aren’t confident, you can bet and still stand a chance of winning!
Categories include the world around us, people, products, and events. If you know your fellow players’ downfalls, you can bet high and reap the rewards from their lack of knowledge! Risk a friendship to earn some points… it’s a no-brainer.
What we liked
This is one of our favorite trivia games to play with non-trivia friends. The mechanics here don’t necessarily favor the brainiacs – so everyone has a chance to win by managing their knowledge correctly!
What could be better
iKnow really works best with a higher player count, it doesn’t see the table much unless we have 5 or 6 players total.

What we liked
There is a great mix of difficult and easy questions here. It’s a great game for teenagers and millennial groups too! The game can be team-based or a face-off between two players, making it a great versatile game for a game night.
What could be better
It’s a bit of luck of the draw with the questions here. Some are super easy and others are really difficult, so if you pick a tough one, you may not get all six categories as quickly as your opponent.
Show your friends or family who’s the know-it-all!

What we liked
This is such a fun and easy, low-pressure party game to play. It works for many different age groups and the question difficulty is pretty well-balanced.
What could be better
A few questions were poorly phrased to get the “right” answers, but not enough to put us off the game.
How Did You Know That? is perfect for your next party or dinner with friends and family!
